Is Therapy For Me? Do I Need Therapy?

Online Therapy in California with Michael Sean Greener, LCSW - Counselor in Los Angeles

Do you find it hard to reach out to or accept help from others?

Does the thought of “spilling your guts” to a stranger seem unappealing, or even scary? If so, I believe you may be struggling with what is often referred to as…being human. I don’t mean to cause any alarm, but you might also be “normal.”

Don’t panic!  You are not alone.

There are thousands of other normal humans that struggle with the thought of being open and vulnerable for what can feel like no good reason.

It is a common ailment, that if properly addressed, can successfully be resolved.  The most difficult parts are identifying that support is needed, acknowledging that the discomfort is worth it, and then following through with finding someone who will walk with you on your journey.

I have some good news!  Great news actually…because if you are reading this you have already started the process! You have decided that extra support may be helpful and are actively searching out ways to take care of yourself and meet that need.  You’ve got this!  You are demonstrating that you have the inner strength, insight, and motivation to cope with the challenges that brought you to this page!

It may be depression, anxiety, a history of trauma, poor self-esteem, feeling stuck, or just an overall dissatisfaction with life.  Whatever the case, with a bit of time and effort you can learn to cope with and maneuver through life’s difficulties.

A lot of people find it helpful to have a therapist walk with them through the process of healing from their emotional wounds. While it is often a journey that individuals feel like they would want to do alone, those that choose to actively participate in therapy tend to find it easier and a more efficient way of getting to a point where they feel "settled" in their mind, body, and spirit.

More good news!  There are plenty of awesome therapists out there that would love the opportunity to walk alongside you and help you get to the point where you feel like you are "on track." For most of us, serving others is not "just a job," but more like a mission, a passion, or a calling.  So, if you think you may be interested in some outside support - go ahead and set up a brief consult with a therapist you think might be a good fit.

If you're looking for psychotherapy in Los Angeles or anywhere in California, you are welcome to set up a consult with me - should your review of this post and other pages on my site lead you to want to do so. But, I'm only one of many. If you are located elsewhere and/or don't feel like you'd connect with me, then by all means look at the numerous places online that are set up specifically for finding a therapist that is just the right fit for you.

You can do it, and yes - you are worth it.
